Childcare Support for the BASEES Conference 2027

We are pleased to confirm that childcare support will be available for eligible participants attending the BASEES Conference 2027 at Robinson College, University of Cambridge.

This support is intended for presenters who require financial assistance with childcare costs in order to participate in the conference.

To apply, please complete the application form by 31 January 2027. All applications will be considered after the closing date.

For legal reasons, please note that BASEES does not provide childcare services directly.

However, a number of external providers offer short-term childcare through Ofsted-registered childminders. Participants may wish to explore options via www.childcare.co.uk, although you are, of course, free to make your own childcare arrangements.

Grants may also be used to contribute towards personal childcare arrangements.

We would also like to remind attendees that children are very welcome at the conference, in accordance with the BASEES Childcare and Family Inclusion Policy set out below.

Successful applicants will receive their childcare grant either in cash at the conference or, where the grant supports online attendance, by bank transfer

BASEES Childcare and Family Inclusion Policy

• BASEES is committed to supporting members with caring responsibilities and recognises that some attendees may need to bring their children to the annual conference.
• Children are welcome at the BASEES conference, and breastfeeding is fully supported. A private room can be made available on request for feeding or for nursing parents who wish to express.
• BASEES members and those joining the association who require childcare support to attend the conference may apply for a small grant to help cover childcare expenses during BASEES 2027. Successful applicants will receive a contribution towards these costs to facilitate their participation.
• Please note that some presentation content may not be suitable for children. If children are present in a session, the Chair and the parent/carer should confer before the session begins to determine whether any material may be inappropriate.
• Children remain the responsibility of their parent or carer at all times.
• All attendees under the age of 18 must be supervised by a parent or guardian throughout the event.
